Membership of the Institute is open to any person who is not below 21 (twenty-one) years of age, and who has graduated at any recognized university or who has shown positive evidence of interest in history, is eligible for membership. Application must be proposed and seconded by members. Each Application for both Annual and Life Membership shall be subject to the approval of the Executive Committee. Annual Membership shall be deemed terminated for non payment of fees before the end of the financial year.

Life Membership fee
| Indian | Rs. 3,500.00 |
| Foreign | US$ 60.00 or its equivalent in any other currency. |
A ordinary members for 15 years may become life member on a payment of a consolidated fee of Rs. 600/-
Life Membership is valid for 15 years w.e.f. 15th February, 2010.
The members are entitled to receive the Quarterly Review, use the library and receive the Institute’s publications at concessional rates
